dc.description.abstract | The goal of this Senior Thesis is to create a propulsion-assisted, off-road capable electric wagon for transportation of up to 300lb of cargo. The Volt Wagon project has numerous civilian, industrial, and military applications. It can transport equipment and supplies in environments not appropriate for larger, heavier, noisier golf carts or ATVs, such as indoors, in parks, in delicate or perilous off-road environments (such as power lines), or when stealth is desired. Quick-change gearing allows powered bike trailer functionality, providing a low-carbon alternative to an automobile for shopping trips. Low gearing can be installed for traversal of steel hills. Four-wheel-drive increases off road performance especially in sand or when climbing curbs. An electric assist wagon can enable the elderly and disabled to accomplish more demanding tasks and increase their autonomy. | |
