dc.description.abstract | Aristotle's Analytics (Prior and Posterior) is a single work. Its unifying topic is episteme. And its central aim is to elaborate and defend a view on which episteme is achieved through a certain kind of logos---a demonstrative-proof [apodeixis]. This dissertation studies Aristotle's use of logic in working through a debate over the nature and possibility of episteme rehearsed in Posterior Analytics I.3. In addition to I.3, the main texts discussed are Posterior Analytics I.19-23, and Prior Analytics II.5-7, II.14. | en_US |
