Abstract: | The rise of nationalism in Spain has ties to the recent rise in immigration in the Western European Country. A country that has a long history of xenophobia has a common response to an increase in immigration. This paper examines the interactions of age in Spanish nationals and immigrants as well as their origin. After controlling for income and unemployment rates, this paper finds that age is positively linked to conservatism and how Spanish citizens are more accepting of some immigrants rather than accepting historically oppressed group such as Eastern Europeans age of immigrants is a factor but does not account for the entire prejudice against certain foreigners. |
