dc.description.abstractA robust, automated system is developed to take measurements for mapping the audio response at various points around the driver and passenger seats of a car. The methods implementation is demonstrated through measurements of the cars acoustical symmetry, illustrated in the following color maps. Although the resulting symmetry relations are not in explicit correspondence with the suggested hypothesis, the experiment was merely a demonstration of the process of data acquisition, which can implement virtually any experiment involving the measurement of the car acoustics.It was hypothesized that, the steering wheel being the only obvious cause of asymmetry in the car, the frequencies with higher asymmetry levels would be those whose respective wavelengths correspond to the steering wheels dimensions, at which the waves would be obstructed from diffraction. The overall success of the procedure to obtain the data demonstrates advancement for further acoustical research, which relies on acoustical characterization of the space attained through impulse response measurements.en_US
