Title: | Inflation: The Labour Market |
Authors: | Metcalf, David |
Issue Date: | 1-Jan-1975 |
Series/Report no.: | Working Papers (Princeton University. Industrial Relations Section) ; 61 |
Abstract: | This essay examines four aspects of 'the labour market and infla- tion’. First, the role of unions in the inflationary process is con- sidered. Second, studies which analyse inflation by breaking the labour market down into its constituent parts, such as regional or local labour markets, are discussed. Third, the functioning of the labour market is examined to give some insight into how unemployment can be reduced for a given level of excess demand. Finally, pay policy and indexation are evaluated. |
